Reporting
The general ledger is the complete set of accounts where every debit and credit is recorded.

The general ledger (GL) is the system of record for accounting. Bank feeds, rent receipts, vendor bills, and journals all land here.
If the GL is messy, every report — rent roll excepted — becomes an argument. Keep a clean chart of accounts and post consistently.
Unitz posts property activity to the ledger so financial reports are not rebuilt by hand. See Financial Intelligence.
The chart of accounts is the structured list of ledger accounts used to classify income, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
A journal entry is a manual debit-and-credit posting used to adjust the ledger when a source document did not create the entry automatically.
A trial balance lists every account balance to confirm total debits equal total credits before you issue statements.
